On Sunday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed six new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total of positive cases to 1,050 since March.
A total of 54 cases are considered “active” by the district, meaning they are “confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases … participating in daily monitoring.” Another 141 were categorized as “active contacts” or individuals determined to be close contacts of a lab-confirmed case and are participating in daily monitoring.
A total of 10 COVID-19 related deaths have been confirmed in the county by the health district with seven of them confirmed since late July. The total number of negative tests is 31,564.
There also was an update in the numbers of COVID cases in the outbreak at St. Michael Medical Center in Bremerton. There are now 73 total cases as of Saturday afternoon, with 46 being staff, 24 patients and three others.
In July, 422 infections were confirmed by the health district -more that month than any other month since the pandemic began. In August, 311 cases were confirmed.
Of the 1,050 total cases, 33 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 330 in Bremerton, 257 in Central Kitsap, 173 in North Kitsap and 257 in South Kitsap.
The breakdown for confirmed positive cases per 100,000 residents in each age category in the past 30 days is as follows:
0 – 9: 59 (6 percent)
10 – 19: 61 (6 percent)
20 – 29: 185 (22 percent)
30 – 39: 150 (14 percent)
40 – 49: 185 (18 percent)
50 – 59: 114 (14 percent)
60 – 69: 61 (8 percent)
70 – 79: 97 (9 percent)
80 and older: 52 (2 percent)
