Hood Canal Bridge openings planned for this week

SHINE — Short-duration openings of the Hood Canal Bridge will cause traffic delays from 7:30-11:30 p.m. tonight, April 27, through Thursday, April 29.

Bridge crews will “review emergency protocols and reinforce their familiarity with the bridge’s draw-span systems,” during the openings, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation.

Next month, the bridge is scheduled for three weeks of short-duration daytime and nighttime openings as the Transportation Department’s Bridge Preservation Office conducts an annual inspection of the bridge, as required by federal law. The inspection is required for all moveable bridges in Washington.
