POULSBO — A residential structure fire was reported approximately 3 p.m. Sept. 4 at Noll Road and Noll Valley Loop, near the intersection of Noll Road and Lincoln Road. Poulsbo Fire, Poulsbo Police, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue and Navy Region Northwest responded to the scene.

A large brush fire was quickly thwarted from spreading to nearby woods and residential area Tuesday afternoon.

When crews arrived on scene, just north of North Kitsap High School, they found an old farm house and large trees fully engulfed and the fire quickly spreading across tall grass to the nearby woods, according to Jody Matson, Poulsbo Fire spokeswoman.

Firefighters went to work extinguishing the perimeter of the fire. At 6:30 p.m., 3,500 gallons of water have been used and an estimated 3,000 more gallons will likely be needed to completely extinguish the hot spots.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal has not yet determined the cause of the fire, although it appears that it may have been an abandoned house, according to Matson.
