Aqua Express’ “glass slipper” looks to be fitting Kingston’s foot ferry plans like a Cinderella fairy tale. And while Kitsap Transit’s blessing to private service — in the wake of a failed tax measure last year — came as a surprise to no one, it now appears that the long-discussed idea will be getting past the concept stage very soon.
A “dream come true,” says longtime passenger-only proponent Sonny Woodward. We certainly hope so. This could be the biggest thing to hit Kingston since Washington State Ferries began making the community a regular stop.
If planned correctly, the passenger-only service could have the same positive impacts on the North End and no matter where you stand on the issue, it’s quite an accomplishment getting to this point.
To all those who lost countless hours of sleep shoehorning this slipper, we applaud you. While the Herald and foot ferry proponents at times didn’t see eye to eye on the issue, this paper recognizes the achievement this represents and wishes Aqua Express the best.
