A Kitsap County deputy responded to an auto parts store on Lund Avenue last week after a customer complaining about having to wait in line marched out of the store with an item, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the report, the incident began around 11 a.m. on July 8 when a customer waiting in line at the Auto Zone store began complaining that he was having to wait too long and “demanded that someone assist him,” witnesses said.

According to the employee at the counter who was already helping another customer, the irate man allegedly picked up an unknown item, announced, “I’m taking this, here is money,” and left $4.40 on the counter before exiting the store, setting off the security alarm.

After the alarm sounded, the manager came up front and the customer reportedly came back into the store and began to yell and swear at the employees again, before leaving again and driving away in a Volkswagen GTI.

The employees could not identify what item was taken or how much it cost.
