KCSO: Mother arrested following DUI crash in SK, child injured

A 7-year-old child who suffered serious injuries following a single-vehicle collision in South Kitsap Nov. 6 was transported to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma, which resulted in the arrest of the 29-year-old mother for driving under the influence.

She was held without bail due to a prior DUI conviction in 2022 which resulted in a conviction for negligent driving first-degree, a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post says. The mother, who had a blood alcohol content of .18, was also booked for a for an additional charge of vehicular assault.

Another child, 9, was also in the vehicle and was transported to the hospital for precautionary evaluation, but did not sustain serious injuries, per KCSO. The crash happened in the evening in the 4700 block of SE Burley Olalla Road. The mother lost control of her Toyota 4Runner, crashing through guardrails, down an embankment, and into a tree.
