POULSBO — Mayor Becky Erickson and County Commissioner Rob Gelder host a public meeting, Keeping Communities Safe, on March 24, 1-3 p.m., in the City Council chambers at City Hall.
Erickson scheduled the meeting after the series of unrelated deadly incidents in Kitsap County in February.
Several agencies will participate, including Poulsbo Police Department, Poulsbo Fire Department, Kitsap County Sheriff, and CenCom, which operates the 911 dispatch center.
At the meeting, residents and leaders will discuss the following topics:
— Keeping Safe in your Home.
— Block Watch.
— When to call 911.
— Emergency Prepared-ness.
In February, a Poulsbo man was shot and killed by police, an 8-year-old was shot and critically injured at a Bremerton school by a handgun in a classmate’s backpack, and a Washington State Patrol officer was murdered; the suspect later committed suicide.
Also that month, a Poulsbo man admitted shooting and killing his friend, a state park ranger died in a head-on collision, and a woman was struck and killed by a car in Poulsbo.
