American supermodel and former South Kitsap High School graduate Kendra Spears’s new title has been revealed as Princess Salwa, a day after she married the eldest son of billionaire racehorse owner, His Highness Aga Khan IV, reported the Daily Mail of London.
The Daily Mail reported Spears and Prince Rahim Aga Khan, 41, exchanged vows at the Bellerive Castle in Geneva, Switzerland on Aug. 31.
Spears was best known for her participation in the Ford Supermodel of the World 2008 after winning a modeling contest via MySpace sponsored by Ford.
The Daily Mail reported that Spears, 24, wore a ivory sari with gold embroidery to marry her husband in a traditional Muslim ceremony.
She landed a contract with Ford Models and made her debut at New York Fashion Week in September 2008. He career broke out in 2009, she’s appeared on the covers of lofty titles like French ELLE, Chinese Vogue, and Dazed and Confused.
In New York, she is signed with NEXT Models, alongside models like Anja Rubik and Alexa Chung. Spears has just been announced as the face of Escada’s Fall/Winter 2013 campaign.
Prince Rahim is worth an estimated $800 million, the Daily Mail reported.
The Aga Khan, a British national, is the 49th hereditary Imam of Ismaili Shi’as, and is regarded by his followers as a direct bloodline descendent of the prophet Mohamed, making Prince Rahim a descendent as well.
The Daily Mail reported by marrying Prince Rahim, Kenra is now an official princess — but she will not be a royal one. The Aga Khan is a prince in the sense that he originally comes from a family that was part of the Iranian royal dynasty.
Spears’ new mother-in-law also enjoyed a career as a model. Sarah Frances Croker-Poole was The Aga Khan’s first wife, taking the name Begum Salimah Aga Khan when they were married in 1969.
