Kenneth Carter named Port Orchard postmaster

Kenneth Carter, a 19-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, has been named postmaster in Port Orchard.

Kenneth Carter, a 19-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, has been named postmaster in Port Orchard.

Carter began his postal career as a Clerk in the Redmond Post Office in 1994. He transferred to Auburn in 1997 and entered management as a supervisor, customer service in Kent in 1998. He moved to the Tacoma Central Carrier Facility in the same position later in 1998.

Carter had temporary assignments as acting manager of customer service in Lakewood and as acting postmaster in Gig Harbor. He returned to Kent in 2008 as manager of customer service.

Prior to his appointment in Port Orchard, Carter had been the postmaster in Mercer Island, since 2010.

“I am very excited and thrilled to be the postmaster of Port Orchard,” said Carter. “Port Orchard has a rich community history with an exceptional team of postal professionals that I am very pleased to be a part of. I am very confident that we will continue to provide a high level of service to which Port Orchard has been accustomed.”
