BREMERTON — Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Bremerton, will be at the Park and Burwell Gate at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Friday, 3 p.m., to discuss two bills he is introducing this week.
Both bills are aimed at helping Department of Defense civilian employees and other federal employees deal with the impacts of furloughs.
Kilmer will meet and speak individually with shipyard workers.
Kilmer has called on Congress to stop across-the-board cuts and replace them with a balanced, long-term solution to economic problems. In addition to speaking about this on the House floor, Kilmer has written several columns on the issue and held roundtable meetings with those who could be affected by the cuts.
The morning the cuts took effect, Kilmer stood outside the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard gate to speak with shipyard workers who may be furloughed because of the cuts.
