BREMERTON — Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Bremerton, remembered the struggle of his grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, on Yom Hashoah — Holocaust Remembrance Day — April 8.

“As the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, this is a day that demands we consider the nature of evil, but we also must remember and honor the determination and courageous efforts of ordinary people everywhere who struggle to triumph over it,” he said in a statement.

“My 103-year old grandmother is still alive today. Her remarkable story and those like it continue to be a source of inspiration and hope, as well as a reminder of the need to overcome hatred and that we must be resolute in our fight for what is good, fair, and just.”
