The Kingston Farmers Market’s 2013 Season begins May 4 and continues every Saturday into mid-October. We are busy gearing up and getting ready.

This year is the Kingston Farmers Market’s 24th season. The energy is “as perennial as the grass,” to quote a favorite poem (Desiderata). Our vendors are awesome and it’s joyous to hear the laughter of customers floating in the sunshine.

What can we expect this season?
With Mother’s Day (May 12) just around the corner, rely on our charming artisans to provide the perfect gift for Mom. We are looking forward to Mother’s Day Raffle Baskets too. Tickets go on sale May 4 and May 11.

We have more space for community booths, so the many organizations that call Kingston home can take advantage of the neighborly atmosphere and gathering place that the market provides.

You can expect 10-percent off at participating vendors, every Saturday; EBT and SNAP at the Market Information Booth; and new roadside signage before the season begins. Some of our current signs are pretty tired and tattered.

Calling new vendors!
We are always seeking new vendors to keep the Kingston Farmers Market fresh and appealing. In particular, we are looking forward to new food vendors. Munchy-at-the-market food and drinks are always popular. Already registered: Amy’s Chocolates, Jeff & Dorothy’s Coffee Stand, Bob’s Kitchen. Some new faces may appear … possibly Hawaiian skewered meat, sliders and pizza. Variety is the market spice. It’s good for everyone when people say, “Let’s go down to the Farmers Market and see what’s there today.”

If you are imagining what it would be like to sell at a farmers market, contact Market Manager Clint Dudley at 297-7683 or visit the Vendor Services section of the market website, www.KingstonFarmersMarket.com. There’s no question that it is real work to supply and work a booth at the market, but it’s satisfying and it’s upbeat. Our market supports new vendors — the first few market days are free while you test your product and equipment set-up. We’ll even loan you a canopy for your test run.

It’s a successful vendor village overall. Wish for spring and come on down.
