Carpenter Lake
During late spring, thoughts of lazy summer days seem to pop into young heads with regularity. A small lake might be just the place to go to cool off after working in the berry fields, picking cherries, and even helping with the family ‘stump farm’ garden.
Oh, my! I must really be dreaming of the life as a young boy in the ‘20s and ‘30s in the Kingston area.
I have heard several tales of swimming in Carpenter Lake during that time frame.
Today, Carpenter Lake is reached only through the switch back trail and boardwalk behind Gordon Elementary School. Access to the lakeshore is almost impossible, but the view is peaceful and quiet.
