Though they may come to meetings in layers of fleece and wool socks, the Committees of Kingston Fourth of July festivities are putting together the line-up for festivities this year, set to take place Thursday and Friday, July 3-4. The theme is “From Sea to Shining Sea.”

Organizers of Tiny Town, the parade, fireworks and entertainment in Mike Wallace Park are putting out calls for donations to fund events and volunteers to help pull off the two-day celebration. To cover expenses of the North End’s biggest party of the year, over $35,000 needs to be raised through sponsorships and individual giving.

Fundraising efforts, led by Pete DeBoer, are underway and community support is vital. A donation form is available on page 5 of this issue, or make contributions to donation jars around town.

The Greater Kingston Kiwanis has put out a call to Kingston Middle School students to submit designs for the Fourth of July buttons sold to benefit events.

Other annual Fourth of July events include the annual pancake breakfast at the Kingston Cove Yacht Club and a special Kingston Farmers’ Market.
