Kitsap burn ban ends Friday

Kitsap News Sources

KITSAP COUNTY — The Kitsap County Fire Chiefs Association, in cooperation with the Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, announced today the current outdoor burning ban will be lifted at 8 a.m. on Sept. 5.

The ban was imposed July 17 due to a combination of low moisture content in area vegetation and stretched resources as wildfires blazed across the Western states.

Officials note outdoor burning is the leading cause of wildland fires and urge people to exercise caution by observing rules for outdoor burning, despite recent rains and cooler temperatures.

Many outdoor fires require permits. To find out more about the rules governing outdoor burning in your neighborhood, contact your local fire department.
