Kitsap Commissioner Linda Streissguth announces campaign events

Silverdale and Bainbridge Island are sites where she will launch her campaign

Recently appointed Kitsap County Commissioner, Linda Streissguth, has announced two campaign kick-off events to launch her bid for a full four-year term on the Board.

The first event will be at the Silverdale Beach Hotel on Tuesday, March 18 from 5:30 to 7:00pm.

The Bainbridge Island kick-off will be held at Bainbridge Waterfront Park Community Center on Wednesday, March 19 from 6:00 to 7:30pm. The public is welcome.

Many elected officials and community leaders have signed onto Streissguth’s campaign and will be present at one or both of the events. A special guest will be introducing Commissioner Striessguth in Silverdale.

Streissguth was appointed in January by the two sitting Commissioners to represent Central Kitsap County. She was chosen to fill the vacancy left by Josh Brown’s early retirement, and to finish his term on the board which ends at the end of the year.

She is now running for election for a full-term on the board.

Streissguth recently left Puget Sound Energy where she held the position of manager of community engagement. She brings a knowledge and relevant experience to the job with a strong background in community planning, infrastructure, transportation, public works projects, ordinance review, comprehensive plan and land-use issues and public policy, a campaign release states.

These are skill sets that are critical as Kitsap County is about to begin updating the Comprehensive Plan as mandated by the Legislature and Growth Management Act.

Preserving Kitsap’s quality of life is front and center for Streissguth and she will be discussing her vision at both of the upcoming events.

Streissguth lives in Bremerton with her husband, Kent, and two rescue cats.

To date, the only other person who has announced for the seat is Bremerton Attorney Ed Wolfe, who is running as a Republican.
