Kitsap Community Foundation opens nominations for philanthropy awards

Kitsap Community Foundation (KCF) will give three distinguished philanthropy awards to outstanding individuals and businesses at the Kitsap County Celebration of Philanthropy in May.

Kitsap Community Foundation (KCF) will give three distinguished philanthropy awards to outstanding individuals and businesses at the Kitsap County Celebration of Philanthropy in May.

Kol Medina, executive director at the foundation, is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the most deserving supporters of philanthropy in Kitsap County.

“We aren’t always aware of the most deserving individuals and businesses and are appreciative of the public’s help in identifying worthy nominees,” Medina said.

The foundation has been giving these awards annually since 2001.

The award winners will be announced at the Kitsap County Celebration of Philanthropy May 15. Kitsap Community Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the following three awards:

Spirit of Philanthropy Award:

The recipient of this award is provided by the C. Keith Birkenfeld Trust at The Seattle Foundation with $25,000 to give to local nonprofits of his or her choice. This award honors an individual, couple, or family who exhibit a deep commitment and heartfelt dedication to philanthropy. Nominees should have a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support and/or direct involvement, demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity and involvement encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles in our community.

Outstanding Citizen Award:

This award honors an individual who is a Kitsap County Resident and has a proven history of giving generously of his or her time to local nonprofit organizations or directly to people in need or activities that benefit our community. In short, this award honors an outstanding volunteer.  

Business Making a Difference Award:

This award honors a for-profit business in Kitsap County that has a proven track record of making a positive difference in our community. The business that receives this award must be a Kitsap-based business.
