Kitsap Community Resources (KCR) is facing a severe shortage of furniture and household items for its emergency and transitional housing units.

KCR serves families fleeing domestic abuse, homeless families who lost their homes due to foreclosures or unaffordable rental costs and others who have no place to live. KCR receives three to six requests per day of families seeking housing.

The non-profit organization is in desperate need of cribs, beds, pillows, dressers, silverware and other kitchen items, towels and hygiene items.

“We have a family with a premature baby that has moved into one of our housing units, and while we have blankets for the adults who are sleeping on the floor, we have no crib for the baby,” KCR Housing Director Darlene Cook said. “That is not a humane, healthy or safe way to live.”
