Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies are on the lookout for a woman who is suspected of throwing a brick through a South Kitsap home, fracturing the skull of an 11-month-old toddler.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on the 4500 block of West Jarstad Drive.

The suspect was described as a slim female, wearing a gray-colored hooded sweatshirt with jeans and was witnessed leaving the scene in a maroon-colored vehicle.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue (SKFR) crews arrived and treated the child then advised authorities that he would need to go to Harrison Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

A few hours later, deputies were notified by a doctor that the toddler had sustained a skull fracture and was being transferred to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma. 

According to the incident report, one of the residents of the house said she was in her bedroom when she heard a car arrive in the driveway.

She looked out her window and saw a female walk up to the porch but didn’t recognize her, so she looked away.

Shortly after that, the resident heard a crash and then her roommate scream from the family room. 

A second female resident, identified as the child’s mother, told deputies she was sitting on the sofa near the middle with her son sitting to her right propped up by some pillows when she heard a loud bang and saw the child fly forward as a brick struck his head.

She then grabbed her son and saw that he was bleeding from a cut on his head and called 911.

The mother said she didn’t have any idea who threw the brick through the window and that she has lived at the residence for approximately two years and has not had any problems or disputes with anyone.

The investigation is ongoing as deputies did not have a suspect as of Wednesday afternoon.
