The 11th Kitsap Harbor Festival took place over Memorial Day weekend at the Bremerton Marina.
On May 25 and 26, the festival drew a crowd full of boaters, music, vendors and a beer garden. The festival signifies the opening of the Summer boating season and this year, a couple historic ships were on hand including the Dominion Tug and the USS Turner Joy, which were both available for tours.
The Kitsap Harbor Festival was first started by the Port of Bremerton after the Bremerton Marina Grand Opening event in May of 2008. The marina now boasts 221 permanent spaces with room for 80-100 visiting boaters. The port continues to financially support the festival with marketing funds as does the City of Bremerton through their lodging tax allocations.
Each year the festival has grown with additional sponsored events from pirates to hands on STEM educators for children. Some of the notable performances from this weekend included Cowboy Buck & Elizabeth, a tribute to Patsy Cline, Eugenie Jones and the Pyrates of the Coast.
