Trying to steal some time

A 26-year-old Central Kitsap man attempted to steal three watches from Macy’s in Kitsap Mall at 1:30 p.m. May 17. A Macy’s employee said he was last seen running across Silverdale Way to TJ Maxx.

A deputy caught up with the man outside TJ Maxx and he admitted stealing the three watches, valued at $258 total. The man was apologetic for stealing the watches, saying, “It was stupid.”

He was arrested and booked into jail for third-degree theft and an outstanding warrant. His bail is set at $5,000.

He’d like a barista with his coffee

A 22-year-old barista called police at 6:30 a.m. May 17 about an unwanted man at Life’s A Grind Espresso on State Route 303 in East Bremerton. The man rode a bicycle around the espresso stand before leaving.

The woman said the 47-year-old man threatened and stalked her in the past and was banned from the espresso stand. She armed herself with a baseball bat, locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

A deputy caught up with the man behind Handy Andy’s at the intersection of SR 303 and Riddell Road. He said he remembered being banned from the espresso stand and knew he wasn’t supposed to go there anymore, but he wanted to get a cup of coffee. “I did want to make an honest purchase,” the man told the deputy. He said the woman shut the window and refused to serve him, so he stood there for a few minutes, tapping the window with his fingernail, before leaving.

The man was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree criminal trespass. He was released on personal recognizance.

Multi-car collision on 303 injures Bremerton man

A 22-year-old Bremerton man was injured in a multi-vehicle collision at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29 on northbound State Route 303 near Gluds Pond, just three miles north of Bremerton.

The 22-year-old man was driving a 1990 Honda Accord northbound on 303 when he struck a 1988 Acura Legend on its side. The 25-year-old Olalla driver of the Acura lost control and came to rest facing southbound on the northbound shoulder of 303. The Honda crossed the southbound lanes and came to rest in some trees. An unknown white vehicle fled the scene.

The 22-year-old Honda driver was transported to Harrison Medical Center for back pain and was later released. His two passengers as well as the Acura driver and passenger were not injured. Both vehicles were damaged with repair costs estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Washington State Patrol determined that speed was a factor in the collision and charges are pending.
