A second death and two new positive COVID-19 cases were added by the Kitsap Public Health District at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
The Kitsap resident who succumbed to the virus was an older person — age 65 or over — who had underlying health conditions, KPHD said.
There have now been a total of 141 cases in Kitsap County, though the rate of new cases has generally slowed since April 6.
A total of 2,843 residents have tested negative — the positive test rate is 5 percent.
Of the 141 cases, 39 have been reported in Bremerton, 36 in South Kitsap, 29 in North Kitsap, 26 in Central Kitsap and 11 on Bainbridge Island.
Please keep in mind that cases are occasionally added or removed retroactively at both the county and state levels. For example, the state Department of Health currently has 151 confirmed positive cases not assigned to any county in Washington. The DOH also regularly cleans the data to maintain accuracy — cases are removed from the statewide and local total if it is determined the person who tested positive is a resident of another state.
