Kitsap Transit is sponsoring a job fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday in Bremerton.

The event will be at 200 Charleston Blvd. in Bremerton. The job fair will feature open positions in a wide range of transportation jobs, from bus drivers to mechanics to a marine inventory control specialist.

The agency said the labor gap in transportation occupations accounts for nearly one-fifth of the 3,604 jobs across all occupations in the Olympic region. Within the transportation occupation, one of the biggest supply/demand gaps is for motor vehicle operators. The state says there were approximately 225 more job openings than potential job seekers in February.

Kitsap Transit said it is seeking drivers on routed schedules at a wage rate of $22.40 in the first year. The ACCESS hourly wage is $20.92 in the first year. All job openings can be viewed at kitsaptransit.appone.com or kitsaptransit.com/jobs.
