Kitsap Transit will be offering free transit to federal workers during the government shutdown starting Monday, Jan. 28.

Any federal government employee affected by the shutdown may receive free transportation services including buses, vanpools and all Kitsap Transit foot ferries.

Federal employees need only show a government ID to bus drivers or deckhands and state that they have been affected by the shutdown in order to be allowed for a free ride.

Kitsap Transit will honor the free services to any affected federal employee until further notice.
