Knigts and Yankees do battle in Port Gamble | Port Gamble Gazette | June

June is a very busy month in Port Gamble with two recurring big festivals — Medieval Faire and the Civil War Reenactment — plus, new for Port Gamble, the Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop; and the Tearoom’s Daddy/Daughter Promise Tea.

Port Gamble goes medieval

Medieval Faire is June 5 and 6 — from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Step back in time with jousting, jesting and merry-making sponsored by the Society for Creative Anachronisms. Come see the costumed squires, knights and their ladies while shopping for adornments and refreshments on the rolling green fields of Port Gamble.

For more information, call (360) 697-7404 or go to www.kitsapmedievalfaire.org.

Civil War returns

Civil War Reenactment is Saturday, June 19, and Sunday, June 20; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors can see reenactments and camps of the Union and Confederate infantry, calvary, artillery, navy, marines, engineers and civilians. There will be hospital demonstrations, period fashion shows and music, period sutlers and a magic lantern show.

Battles will be at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. For more information visit www.wcwa.net/events/portgamble.com

Shop fresh

Also throughout summer months, the Port Gamble Sunday Market will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Pacific Avenue.

Quilters unite

Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop is Wednesday, June 23, through Sunday June 27; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Fifty five shops in Western Washington, from Lynden to Vancouver participate in this show.

An estimated 4,000 quilters will pick up a free block kit at each store and are entered to win a variety of drawings and prizes. Fabric is designed by two Seattle companies.
