A Lakewood man died in a solo motor vehicle crash late Thursday evening after his vehicle collided with the median along Highway 3.
The accident occurred at 11 p.m. on State Route 3 near Kitsap Way. The man, a 35-year-old, was driving southbound when his truck left the roadway and hit the cable barrier. No other vehicles or persons were involved.
Earlier in the evening, a 52-year-old Poulsbo woman rolled her vehicle on the Hood Canal Bridge just east of the border between Jefferson and Kitsap Counties.
The vehicle was traveling eastbound toward Poulsbo when it lost control and crossed over into the westbound lanes, hit the concrete barrier, rolled and came to a stop on its side in the westbound lane. The Hood Canal Bridge was tied up for over an hour. The vehicle was reported to be totaled.
The woman was transported to Bremerton Harrison and was charged with driving too fast for conditions.
