‘Russian Dan’ and ‘Looney’ steal car at gunpoint

Daniel “Russian Dan” Christopher Lang, 32, of Port Orchard, was charged with robbery in the first degree. Lang was allegedly one of three men who stole another man’s Nissan Sentra at gunpoint in Bremerton on Jan. 23. Brent “Looney” Weir and Jordan A. Fields allegedly worked with Lang. Weir knocked on the driver’s window at 7:10 a.m. and pointed a silver pistol at the driver. Weir racked the slide on the gun and said, “Get out of the car!” Lang pulled the driver out of the vehicle. The three robbers then drove along Charleston Beach Road with Lang at the wheel.

At 7:12 a.m., a Washington State Patrol Trooper spotted the stolen Nissan and gave chase. Lang drove evasively but struck a median and the car stopped. Fields ran out of the car, but was quickly apprehended by the trooper. Lang and Weir got away in the Nissan.

Five days later a detective learned Weir possibly switched the license plates on the Nissan and was hiding the car in the garage of someone who went by the name “Rhino.” Also, a live 9mm round was found at the scene of the carjacking, supporting the driver’s claim that Weir had racked the slider of his gun.

Seeking more leads, officers contacted residents at a Bremerton home and showed them photographs of Lang and Weir. The residents said they did not know the men, but a nearby child said “Hey, that’s Looney,” referring to Weir. The resident immediately looked down at the child “with disgust” and told the child to be quiet and go away.
