Law & Justice Tax downed, Quade, Anderson, Olsen get top votes

With the unofficial results in, Kitsap County’s Law & Justice Tax was downed by voters by a 66.05 to 33.95 percent margin with 28,444 against and just 14,621 in favor of the proposal. The tax would have added .15 percent to the sales tax during the next five-years for law and justice efforts.

Tom Anderson and newcomer Brian Maule are expected to advance to the November ballot in a race to fill North Kitsap School District No. 400 Director Position 1, which is being vacated by longtime director Dick Endresen. Anderson posted a commanding lead with 53.20 percent of all votes (3,813), while Maule appears to have edged Grant Romaine but a 1,771 to 1,472 tally, capturing 24.71 percent of the vote to Romaine’s 20.54 percent.

The City of Poulsbo could have a new mayor come November as challenger Kathryn Quade took 46.93 percent of the vote, leaving current Mayor Donna Jean Bruce and Poulsbo City Councilman Mike Regis to duke it out for the second November slot. Regis, according to the unofficial tally, trailed Bruce’s 444 votes but brought in 402 of his own, trailing 27.53 percent to 24.92 percent.

In Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Court 8 , Sally F. Olsen was reelected by a huge margin of 26,522 (67.81 percent) to challenger Jonathan R. Morrison’s 12,243 votes (31.30 percent).
