I recently had the honor of attending a Village Green Foundation meeting in Kingston and meeting the dynamic and focused group of individuals who have come together for the sake of community. I look forward to working with them as we make plans for the future.
The Friends of the Kingston Library will have its first book sale of the year on March 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join us at the Community Center for this popular event. The Friends meet the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Community Center.
Find out about the unusual places and things you can discover in Washington from Harriet Baskas on March 1 at 1:30 p.m. The author and radio producer has many fantastic stories to share in her presentation, “What is That? Unusual and Offbeat People, Places, Things, and Events in Washington State.” The event is co-sponsored by Humanities Washington.
A special West Sound Reads program with Kirby Larson will take place on March 19 at 11 a.m. at the Firehouse Theater in Kingston. Larson will read from her book, “The Fences Between Us,” which is part of the “Dear America” series. “The Fences Between Us” is the story of a young girl whose brother is a sailor on the battleship Arizona at Pearl Harbor and whose father is the pastor for a Japanese Baptist Church in Seattle.
As she awaits news of her brother’s fate following the Pearl Harbor attack, her father decides to move his church in order to minister to his congregants who have been relocated.
