And on Feb. 5, he celebrates another milestone: his 100th birthday.
Daly will celebrate his centennial with an open house at his Port Orchard home from noon to 4 p.m. on Feb. 5.
Daly was born on Feb. 6, 1917 in Wisconsin, the son of John and Esther Daly. He was a high school history teacher before enlisting in the Army on Aug. 5, 1941. He served in World War II and the Korean War, and retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel.
His wife, Mary, passed away on Feb. 14, 2003. They are the parents of Bill Daly and Andrew Daly (Carolyn); grandparents of William Daly II (Alta) and Shannon Coleman (Grant); and great-grandparents of Emma Coleman and Olivia Coleman.
As for his health as he reaches his centennial year: “He is doing amazing!” his granddaughter, Shannon Grant, wrote.
