BREMERTON — A 26-year-old registered level 3 sex offender has moved to Bremerton, according to a bulletin released by the Bremerton Police Department.
Being level 3 means the man, Jonathan M. Margart, is considered highly likely to reoffend. The BPD is releasing the following information as allowed by state law.
The individual requires registration with the sheriff’s office in the county of his residence. Further, his previous criminal history places him in a classification level that reflects the potential to re-offend.
In this case, this sex offender has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. The BPD has been advised that he has moved to this new location. BPD has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live. Unless court-ordered restrictions exist, this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he chooses.
Margart is 26 years old, 5 foot 7 inches, 166 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Margart has registered with Kitsap County to reside in the 900 block of Washington Avenue in Bremerton.
The BPD Community Resource Unit is available to help residents set up neighborhood watches and to provide residents with useful information on personal safety. If residents believe they have observed current criminal activity, they should contact BPD.
According to court documents, Margart pleaded guilty in 2008 to attempted child molestation in the second degree and child molestation in the third degree; and to possession of child pornography in the second degree in 2013 in Lewis County.
