POULSBO — A level three sex offender has taken up residence in Poulsbo.
As a level three offender, courts have deemed Robert C. Brueger, 33, as having potential to re-offend.
In 1990, Brueger was convicted of child rape and two counts of child molestation.
According to a press release from Kitsap County Sheriff department, at the age of 15, Brueger raped his 6-year-old half-sister and sexually molested an 11-year-old boy.
He has also admitted to sexually molesting an 11-year-old girl and a handicapped adult woman.
In 1995, he followed two women to their car and, after showing parts of his nude body, he tried to force open the vehicle doors as the women drove away. He was convicted of indecent exposure.
A community notification meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. July 15 at American Legion Post #245 in Breidablik Hall, located at 26580 Breidablik Place NW, Poulsbo.
Unless offenders are restricted by court rulings, they are free to reside where they choose under the U.S. Constitution.
According to a press release from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, as of June 27, there were 20,193 sex offenders registered in the state. About 722 live in Kitsap County and surrounding areas and 91 are in jail or in Washington state Department of Corrections.
About 18 years ago, legislators passed the Community Protection Act of 1990, which requires registration of sex offenders.

The Web site, www.familywatchdog.us was developed by John Walsh from America’s Most Wanted. It is a national search database and all that’s required is a city zip code.
The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) also has a state sex offender information center at ml.waspc.org. It’s specifically for the state and requires entering a residential address. The database searches up to a 15 mile radius.
