POULSBO — A convicted child molester who had been homeless since his release from prison last month moved to Poulsbo, then moved away.

Jeremy David Lelko, 31, had registered as living in the 18000 block of 15th Loop NE, according to a community notification from the Poulsbo Police Department issued last week.

But then Tuesday the department reported Lelko had moved out of the city.

Kitsap County sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson said the office still had Lelko’s address listed in Poulbo.

Lelko was released from the state Department of Corrections after serving about nine years in prison following a 2000 conviction for two counts of first-degree child molestation. The two victims were known to Lelko.

After his release, Lelko was unable to provide a verifiable address and checked in weekly with the office, as required by law, said Wilson.

Lelko was also convicted in 1998 of third-degree child molestation for sexual contact with a juvenile female he had been in a relationship with for about six months, the Poulsbo police statement said. Lelko will now be supervised by Poulsbo police.

He was also convicted of two counts of residential burglary in 1992 and possession of paraphernalia and marijuana in 1997.

The state categorizes sex offenders with a three-level system, with level III offenders the most likely to reoffend.

At the beginning of the year, there were 566 unincarcerated registered sex offenders living in Kitsap County. Of that number, 15 were listed as transient, or without verifiable addresses.
