With the tax deadline rapidly approaching, Liberty Tax is looking to have a little fun.

Liberty Tax inside Kitsap Mall plans to host a “Taxes” Holdem Poker Game starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15. Anyone 18 and older can enter to play for free. Ten names will be drawn from a hat and the chosen participants will be notified tomorrow.

“We’re still struggling to try and get people to play,” said Liberty Tax spokeswoman Tami Kelly.

Kelly said no one is currently signed up to play in the poker game, but she hopes that changes soon so the event can still happen on Sunday.

“The winner will get a free tax return preparation,” Kelly said.

Gifts will be given away and people can enter to win $50 off a tax return preparation as well as other prizes.

Kelly said people are encouraged to come watch the game and Lady Liberty will be on hand serving refreshments.

“Liberty Tax’s motto is “Have Fun,” so it’s just a fun thing to do,” Kelly said.

She said there is no set end time for the “Taxes” Holdem Poker Game and participants will continue to play until they have a winner.

“It’s really hard with a poker game to know — it could last an hour, it could last a couple hours,” she said.

To enter to play “Taxes” Holdem Poker at Liberty Tax, call the Kitsap Mall location at (360) 698-1040.
