Woman busted for drugs at DOC office
Sandra Lee Johnston, 46, a transient, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance following her Dec. 11 arrest for drug possession at the Department of Corrections office on Kitsap Way.
According to a police report, Johnston was checking in at the office as required when her Community Corrections Officer found her purse and found one small round purple tablet and three smaller round orange tablets. The officer, using the website drugs.com, determined that all of the pills are schedule II narcotics.
“Johnston advised that the purse was hers, but she had no idea whose pills they were,” a police report states. “She said that they were definitely not hers.”
Johnston was then arrested.
Woman faces bail jumping charge
Bremerton resident Rebecca Louise Richins, 33, of the 300 block of Lafayette Avenue, has been charged with bail jumping.
Richins, who is also known as Rebecca Presler, was arraigned June 17 in Kitsap County Superior Court on one count of possession of a methamphetamine, a Class C felony. On Oct. 15, the court amended the conditions of release and required bail or bond in the amount of $50,000. Shortly thereafter, Richins posted bond or bail and was released from custody. Richins’ case proceeded to jury trial Oct. 21. Judge Jeanette Dalton, presiding at trial, ordered her to be present when a verdict was reached. The jury reached a verdict Oct. 24. Richins, though, did not appear that day and Judge Dalton found her absence to be voluntary.
Man has bad luck pawning stolen stuff
Bremerton resident Christopher James Lansing, 25, of 2449 Rocky Point Road, has had some bad luck at pawn shops lately. He was charged in October for trafficking in stolen property in the second degree and picked up a trafficking stolen property in the first degree charge this month after trying to pawn stolen goods.
In the first case, which took place in late September, a Bremerton woman whose $500 bicycle was stolen from her back porch in the 2800 block of 19th Street, discovered it at a Pawn Pros the next day. The officer who took the original report responded to the store and found the bike had been pawned by Christopher James Lansing, 25, of 2449 Rocky Point Road for $50.
The woman said that Lansing is an acquaintance of her roommate and had stolen items from the home on earlier occasions. Lansing was charged Oct. 8 with trafficking in stolen property in the second degree.
In the second case, a woman at the Starbucks inside of the Albertson’s off Wheaton Way reported the theft of her Kindle Fire. An officer later watched surveillance footage and observed a white male wearing a black ball cap, brown coat, dark colored pants and black shoes approach the Kindle, pick it up and then run out of the store.
The officer went to Pawn Pros and found out a caller had recently inquired about how much he could get for pawning a Kindle. The pawn shop later contacted the officer who responded to the store and saw the same man that was in the Albertson’s video, Christopher James Lansing. Lansing told the officer he was pawning the Kindle Fire to get money for drugs. At the time of his arrest he had needles for heroin, some marijuana and over-the-counter sleeping pills.
