Local business to host fundraiser for mudslide victims

Boston Deli and Pizza is hosting a fundraiser April 3 to raise money for the Oso mudslide.

Local business owners Cheryl and Don Stauff of Boston Deli and Pizza keep hearing the stories from customers and others who knew someone lost in the recent Oso mudslide.

To help out the victims of the mudslide, the Stauffs have decided to host an all-day fundraiser next Thursday, April 3. While the fundraiser is in memory of John Regelbrugge III, the Navy commander who had ties to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, who perished in the slide, all proceeds will be donated to families impacted, Cheryl Stauff said.

“Every time we talk to somebody we find out there’s more and more connections,” she said. “We just want it to go to the families fund. It’s going to go to all the families.”

Stauff noted that they’ve contacted Bremerton Mayor Patty Lent who in turn is reaching out to Arlington’s mayor to find out the best place for the restaurant to donate the proceeds.

Boston Deli and Pizza will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the owners said all proceeds from the entire day will be donated to the families affected. Monetary donations are currently being accepted at the restaurant.

The restaurant is located at 210 Burwell St. in Bremerton.
