Trying to find a way contribute to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina? Several businesses and organizations are taking donations to send to Louisiana to help with the disaster that remains from the wrath of Hurricane Katrina.
• BayView Fitness in Poulsbo will be hosting “Workout for Hurricane Relief†Sept. 17. The gym will be open to the public to donate money to work out. Classes will be offered Saturday morning. Call for times and details. Proceeds go to the American Red Cross. Information: (360) 779-8100.
• Mike’s Carwash, located in Poulsbo Village across from the Holiday Inn Express, will be donating $2 of every car wash through the months of September and October to the Red Cross New Orleans Relief Fund. Additional donations are welcome.
• Through Oct. 9, the massage therapists at the Poulsbo Athletic Club, Shannon Jacobson, Vicki Hawkinson, Michele Minch, Pam Sorensen and Julie Nawrot-Johnson, will donate 10 percent of their receipts (pay at time of service and gift certificates; excludes insurance work) to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. • The four Kingston-Poulsbo Edward Jones investment representatives announced that the firm has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In addition, the parent company will match its associates’ donations to the American Red Cross. The firm also intends to collect client donations toward the relief effort. The local representatives are Bim Prince, Todd Tidball, Glenn Andersen and Pat McFadden.
• Kitsap Bank is accepting donations for the American Red Cross at all of their 19 branches, including the Poulsbo and Kingston locations. Donations will be taken through Oct. 3 and funds will be forwarded weekly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Katrina. The bank is also matching hurricane relief donations made to the American Red Cross by any of its 250 employees for the same period of time.
