A 63-year-old man was arrested Monday after he allegedly entered a home on Colchester Drive where he lived as a tenant four years earlier.
The woman who rents the home in the 1600 block of Colchester called 9-1-1 when she got home about 5:30 p.m. Monday and saw a man standing on her porch by the open front door.
According to a Kitsap County sheriff’s deputy report, the man appeared intoxicated and told the woman he lived at the home.
The suspect also told the deputy the home was his and that he went inside because the door was unlocked.
The man also said he had a gun, which the deputy found in the man’s backpack. A criminal history check found the man had no criminal convictions that would prohibit him from having a gun.
When the deputy called the owner of the residence, he said the suspect was a former renter who had been evicted four years ago for not paying his rent.
The woman tenant said nothing appeared to have been taken from the home, but she was very concerned for her safety. The deputy explained to her and the landlord the process for obtaining a restraining order if necessary.
The suspect was booked at the Kitsap County jail on a burglary charge, with bail set at $10,000.
