Man caught after Kitsap Way McDonald’s armed robbery

Bremerton Police captured an armed robbery suspect leaving the scene at McDonald’s on Kitsap Way early Tuesday morning.

The 27-year-old Silverdale man, carrying a loaded rifle, was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers were called to an armed robbery at McDonald’s on Kitsap Way at 5:48 a.m. The suspect had entered the restaurant armed with a loaded rifle and ordered the one customer in the lobby to get behind the counter. The suspect detained two other employees and the customer in the rear of the restaurant. Another employee had escaped out of the restaurant without the suspect knowing. That employee called 911 and reported the robbery in progress. Another employee had been out in the parking lot and observed the robbery take place and also went to call 911.

Meanwhile, the suspect ordered the manager to empty the safe. The suspect threatened the manager with the gun while he was emptying the safe. The suspect then put two of the victims into the freezer and had the manager open the back door. The suspect fled out the rear door of the restaurant and began to exit the parking lot when he was approached by officers responding to the scene. The suspect complied with the officers orders and was taken into custody.

No one was injured during the incident. The suspect was taken to the Bremerton Police Department for questioning and later booked into the Kitsap County Jail for first-degree robbery. Bail was set at $250,000.00.

Detectives believe the suspect may be responsible for other recent robberies in the Kitsap County area. The investigation continues.
