Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews responded to the intersection of Central Valley Road and Island Lake Parkway at around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, where they found a man pinned by his ankle underneath the front wheel of a full size pickup truck.
“The man had apparently exited his vehicle thinking the brake was set, the vehicle rolled backward causing the open door to knock him to the ground and the front tire to roll over his ankle where it came to rest,” wrote CKFR Capt. Brett Twomey in a news release. “The man was trapped under the vehicle until a neighbor heard him yelling for help.”
Capt. Twomey said that CKFR’s Ladder 51 responded with an engine and medic unit and used heavy lifting techniques to raise the pickup truck off the man’s leg so he could be pulled out. He was then transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton where he was treated for an ankle fracture.
