Beach Fight
A 21-year-old man was beaten at Point No Point Park in Hansville July 12.
The woman who reported the incident at about 4:20 a.m. told sheriff deputies there were multiple suspects armed with baseball bats.
When deputies arrived to the victim’s home, the right side of his head was swollen between his eyebrow and his temple. Scrapes were visible on his elbows and knees. According to the report, he smelled like intoxicants and had sand in his ear.
North Kitsap Fire & Rescue medics treated the man; however when they advised he should go to the hospital, he refused.
The man was hesitant to give any details about the night and said he didn’t want the incident pursued.
While on the beach he got into a verbal argument with some people and then he was “jumped.”
He estimated there were about six people hitting him when he went to the ground.
Deputies are investigating the incident.
Fire destroys barn
No specific cause has been determined for the fire that destroyed a Kingston barn, located off of Leprechaun Lane, July 12.
Pillars of black smoke were visible as far away as Kountry Korners, said Michele Laboda, community services specialist for North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.
NKF&R crews were dispatched to the fire. Officials think the fire started as an accidental brush fire. When crews arrived, flames were spreading to a nearby children’s playhouse and a mature fir tree was on fire.
Fire fighters enlisted the help of bystanders to watch for spot grass fires in the surrounding dry grass created by flying embers.
No animals were in the barn and no one was injured while fighting the fire.
The barn and a nearby classic pickup truck were destroyed.
