North Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews helped a middle-aged man after he was found disoriented and lost following a rainy night spent outdoors between Indianola and Poulsbo, a Monday fire department press release stated. The man said he had been hiking.
A bystander “heard his cries for help and summoned assistance” on Sunday morning, according to the release.
Crews were called to a location off of Silver Springs Road Sunday morning, responding to reports of a man stuck in a ravine “at least 100 feet down.” Responders activated a rescue team from multiple fire districts, however on arrival firefighers determined the recue team would not be necessary.
Crews used chainsaws and other tools to carve a path to the man, making it easier to carry him to an ambulance.
Responders said the man suffered from hypothermia. He was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale for treatment.
