POULSBO — A 28-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner while he allegedly tried to break into her home early March 5.
Sheriff’s deputy responded to a 9-1-1 call at 1:47 a.m. in the 16000 block of Highway 305, near Sandy Hook Road on the Suquamish reservation, the Sheriff’s Department reported on its Facebook page.
Deputies administered life-saving aid until paramedics arrived on the scene. The suspect was transported to Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma.
Detectives are investigating.
According to KOMO News, the homeowner told deputies she heard a noise and grabbed her gun, and warned the man several times.
“Despite her warnings, she said the man kept coming,” KOMO News reported. She reportedly shot the suspect from inside her home, leaving a bullet hole in a window near the front door. Deputies told Q13 News that the suspect did not get inside the home, and deputies found him outside with a bullet wound.
