SUQUAMISH — A 33-year-old man shot by Suquamish Police Saturday was moved Tuesday from the hospital to a state prison.
The state took custody of the suspect because of warrant for a probation violation, according to the Department of Corrections.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson said he expects the man will be moved to Kitsap County jail for charging by county prosecutors.
The man is accused of striking two Suquamish Police officers with a car while attempting to flee a NE Nelson Street residence in Suquamish on Saturday evening, according to a Sheriff’s office statement. Two Suquamish officers fired into the car, striking the man several times in the torso. The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center that night.
A passenger in the car, a 27-year-old Poulsbo woman, suffered minor arm injuries and was treated at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. The suspect with the warrant was moved Tuesday to Monroe Correctional Complex, which has medical facilities.
Both officers were also treated at Harrison and are healing well, Suquamish Police Chief Mike Lasnier said. The officers will be given administrative work until the Sheriff’s office completes an investigation of the incident.
