A 43-year-old man was arrested for siphoning gasoline from another man’s vehicle in Bremerton Aug. 17.

An officer arrived in a parking lot in the area of 17th Street and Elizabeth Avenue around 2:46 p.m. after the vehicle owner reported that a man was stealing fuel from his vehicle. He was in his home and saw the suspect through the window.

The officer found the 43-year-old with a hose and a five gallon gas container next to his own vehicle. The man placed the vehicle’s hood up to make it appear as if he was doing work on the engine. His description matched the suspect information from another siphoning incident in the 1500 block of Elizabeth Avenue Aug. 13.

The man was arrested and booked into Kitsap County jail for third-degree theft. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
