A man stole a laptop from the Bremerton School District administration building Feb. 23 by walking into an administrator’s office when she was away from her desk.
A 52-year-old woman who works for the district told police that a white man entered her office at 134 North Marion Avenue at about 4:12 p.m. and left two minutes later with her laptop computer, according to Bremerton police reports. She said she was out of her office for only a few minutes when the theft happened. A man was seen casing the building by other employees since 2 p.m.
Another employee said he saw a man in his mid to late 30s riding a BMX-style bicycle trying to open the back door to the building, saying he needed to use the bathroom and then left.
Security videos showed the same man looking around the building at 2:21 p.m. and returning at 4:14 p.m. to take the 52-year-old woman’s laptop and carrying case. The woman valued the stolen items at $1,500. The man was never located by police.
