A man who reportedly poured gas inside a home and threatened to set it off with a lighter while children were upstairs was in Kitsap County Superior Court Sept. 25.
The 38-year-old Everett man was charged with first-degree arson and fourth-degree assault. He faces life in prison and $55,000 in fines. Bail was set at $100,000.
Poulsbo police say Sept. 22 at 9:37 p.m. a 12-year-old girl reported domestic violence in progress. Her mother’s boyfriend poured gas inside the house in the 18600 block of Vaughn Milton Loop NE. They had been dating 1 1/2 months. He threatened to light the gas while she and her siblings were upstairs.
When police arrived the girl answered the door and was frantic. The man was placed in handcuffs. The children said the man had been drinking since 10 a.m. He had thrown a bag of tobacco, a can of toothpicks and gas on the first few steps of the staircase. The man was flicking the lighter and taunting and threatening to light the gas.
