Bremerton Police arrested a 51-year-old man from Hansville Friday after he waved a knife at three people in front of a grocery store.

At about 5:57 p.m., a 20-year-old Bremerton woman was loading groceries into her car in the Kitsap Way QFC parking lot when the man came toward her, yelling. When the woman, her boyfriend and a friend got into her car, the man stood behind the car, continuing to yell and waving a knife.

After the woman called 911, police found the man behind the Kitsap Way Chevron gas station, according to police reports. When asked by police why he went after the woman, he said, “Someone said something stupid to me” and asked to be shot in the patrol car.

He was taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of second-degree assault.
