A 34-year-old man was taken to Harrison Medical Center for a mental health evaluation Wednesday after telling ferry passengers he enjoys setting himself on fire.
Passengers on the 3 p.m. Kaleetan ferry from Seattle to Bremerton reported the man to ferry crew members after observing “self-destructive behavior” and what appeared to be burned clothing, according to officials from Washington State Ferries and Washington State Patrol.
The man reportedly told one passenger he liked setting himself on fire, but no one witnessed any flames, State Trooper Krista Hedstrom said.
State troopers contacted the man when the ferry docked at 4 p.m. and he agreed to a mental health evaluation.
