Pedestrians, but not cars, will be able to pass the Manette Bridge in downtown Bremerton Thursday, while workers lay 300 yards of concrete in one of the new bridge’s piers.

The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be detoured to the Warren Avenue Bridge, the only other bridge spanning the Port Washington Narrows.

The new, $57.8 million bridge is expected to open in late 2012 or early 2013, according to the state Department of Transportation website.
